Links/Link Exchange Requirements - Rules & Warnings
Present a good product and a good website, work hard on your SEO, and follow the Search Engine ethics guidelines, and your Internet business will do well. Build your business without fooling other site owners, without fooling your potential customers, and without manipulating the search engines, and you will be delighted with your positive and steady progress. Good luck to you and if we can be of help, just ask. -- The Boyds
RULE #1:
Oh!Boyd links to websites that are related, useful and/or interesting to us. Any personal request from an actual site owner (not your representative) to have his/her site URL reviewed and a description added to the Oh!Boyd Links page is cheerfully considered. If the business is of interest and/or related to Oh!Boyd and appears to be legitimate, offers a good product or useful information, and is not filled with advertising, then the link is added to this page out of business courtesy.
RULE #2:
Any reciprocal link exchange must connect directly to/from this site and the requestor's site (not some third site), and the requestor's links page must be easily accessible to site visitors (not hidden) from within the requestor's other pages.
RULE #3:
Some requests for linkage are ignored...completely. Dating services, pornographers, drug sellers, websites full of advertising, etc. don't need any help from Oh!Boyd.
WARNING #1:
Link Farm* requests for exchange are reported as SPAM. No exceptions. PR and SEO take work. Don't get sucked in by promises that are too good to be true. Black Hat link farming tactics will not be tolerated.
WARNING #2:
Also reported as SPAM - Another "Black Hat" tactic - Exchange requests via E-mail that include a URL to the requestor's website links page, but the website does not offer or obscures visitor accessibility to their links page. If your visitors can not find your links to other sites, don't ask us to participate in your scheme.
WARNING #3: We are getting pretty irritated with the bogus Link Exchange stuff, and pretty soon we are going to start publishing a list of sites that are wasting our time with their dishonest and lazy attempts at building PR.
-----------------
* Link Farm - a round about linking system to fool Search Engine Spiders and artificially build Page Ranking. Considered to be a "black hat" tactic, link farm requests are disguised as a personal Email from you, a form letter request from your site. The request asks that we add your site to our links page. But in exchange, what your Email offers is useless to us (and useless to you eventually). Your exchange offer is to add the Oh!Boyd URL, not to your site, but to either a giant directory or to some other third site (not one that you own usually). Don't be fooled. These Link Farm sites offer you an easy and quick way to gain Internet status, but rather than helping you achieve your goal of good page ranking, the participating sites are often penalized by the search engines.
